A refrigerator is not only one of the most important household appliances in the kitchen, but sometimes a real headache for house owner.
If it is put improperly and you are incommoded when using it, the device seems to spoil the mood of all housemates constantly. In order to stuff a bulky cooling cabinet in any space, you need to rack your brains and make some calculations.
And we’d like to facilitate doing it and offer some useful design ideas and topical photos.
A Traditional Approach
The best variant for locating a fridge is a spacious kitchen. Here you can organize everything so that cooking will go in full accordance with the rules of the technological process.
It is excellent to place appliances and work surfaces in the following order: a refrigerator, a table, a sink, a stove or cooktop.
This allows you to make a meal quietly, not rushing through the kitchen, passing from one operation to another.
If the room parameters afford, it is better to put the fridge in the corner. So its large sizes will be smoothed, and it will be easier to insert it into the whole interior. As a rule, the unit closes the rear of the cabinets.
In a small room you may use either slim or of prolate form models, or on the contrary – compact refrigerators.
A standard kitchen usually gives enough space for a family of two, and the whole area brings an opportunity of hiding a fridge under the tabletop, as, for example, a washing machine or a dishwasher.
If there are more people living in the apartment, it’s easier to buy an extra unit and put it out of the kitchen (in another room or an entrance hall/lobby).
And the idea is to store there provision for a week or food which should be kept in a frozen form.
The problem of a tiny kitchen may be also solved by connecting it with a warmed loggia. This additional space perfectly suits for placing the fridge.
In fact, after door and window units demounting there some supporting girders stay, so you can use them to hide the device partially. But remember that the comfortable distance from the working surface to the fridge is a meter and a half.
If there is no loggia, the fridge may be carried out from the kitchen to the corridor. You may take into account an opportunity of demounting the part of the wall (if not supporting) between these two areas, if the layout allows you to create a niche for the unit mentioned.
Just remember that the service rules for not built-in fridges ask for leaving a distance of 10-15 cm between the wall and the appliance. Otherwise, the motor may overheat, and the device will go dead. Sometimes it is convenient to re-equip built-in cabinets in the corridor for placing the refrigerator there.
When installing the fridge you should also take into consideration that it must not be put close to the stove or central heating radiator. The high temperature will harm not only its body, but also will affect the cooling process. In addition, it is desirable to protect the device from direct sunlight.
